Economic and Fiscal Update (Development Symposium 2023)

The presentation, "Palau Development Symposium: Economic and Fiscal Update, November 2023," provides a comprehensive overview of Palau's economic performance and fiscal health. It covers real GDP annual growth, analyzing both private and public sector contributions. Employment statistics differentiate between Palauan and foreign workers, while wage trends are examined. The presentation also reviews visitor arrivals, a critical component of Palau's economy, and projects future trends. Government revenues and expenditures are reviewed alongside external debt and debt service as a percentage of GDP. Additionally, it highlights looming risks associated with the Republic of Palau's Social Security and Civil Service Pension Plan, and concludes with an assessment of government deposits from FY19 to FY30.
